Super Eagles duo, Victor Moses and William Troost-Ekong, have been nominated for the 2017 African Player of the Year award.
Moses, 26, was extraordinary as Chelsea clinched the Premier League title last season.
The ex-Crystal Palace midfielder was also instrumental, scoring three goals and two assists as Nigeria booked a place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Troost-Ekong, meanwhile, wasn’t of similar relevance at Gent before his summer move to Bursaspor.
However at the Turkish side, the 24-year-old is gradually becoming a cult hero, hitting the net twice in six games from defence.
For his country, Troost-Ekong has equally been outstanding – featuring in all games as they booked a ticket to Russia.
The pair will have to fend off competition from 28 other African stars who’ve distinguished themselves in the last calendar year.
Most notably are Eric Bailly of Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund superstar, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Liverpool pair, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Surprisingly, current holder, Riyad Mahrez, alongside Leicester teammates, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, were left out.
Should either clinch the accolade, it would be the first by a Nigerian since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
Aside the ex-Arsenal forward, only four other Nigerians have won the award.
Mikel Obi, Vincent Enyeama and Jay-Jay Okocha have all come close but failed after him.
