Victor Moses will feature in the last 16 of the Champions League thanks to Chelsea’s 4-0 defeat of Qarabag on Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium.
With the Nigerian left behind in London due to injury, Eden Hazard and Willian inspired the Blues past the Azerbaijan side.
Hazard scored Chelsea’s first-half opener from the penalty spot after his pass to Willian provoked a foul on the Brazilian from Rashad Sadygov, who was sent off as incredulous Qarabag players questioned both the penalty and the red card.
Willian doubled Chelsea’s lead nine minutes before the interval, collecting Hazard’s deft back-heeled pass before rolling home.
Cesc Fabregas netted Chelsea’s third from the spot in the 73rd minute after another foul on Willian, and the Brazil international crashed home his second in the closing moments.
Chelsea will go into their last Group C fixture against Atletico Madrid on 10 points and still in with a chance of finishing top.
Moses will be aiming to have a much bigger impact in the next round, having played just once in the competition thus far.
In the other group game, AS Roma were brought back to reality, losing 2-0 in Madrid.
With only a point enough to seal their passage to the next round, the Italian side was torn apart by strikes from Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezman.
Nonetheless, Roma is second with eight points, two more than Atletico.
