Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon, made it goal number four in five games to help Gent thrash Taiwo Awoniyi’s Royal Excel Mouscron 3-1 on Friday night.
Simon, 22, who missed Nigeria’s matches with Algeria and Argentina due to injury, is staking a claim for a spot in Gernot Rohr’s squad to Russia with impressive displays for his club.
The Gent number 27 drew first blood from the spot after just 29 minutes.
Compatriot Awoniyi, on loan from Liverpool, then levelled things for the visitors.
However, further strikes from Yuya Kubo and Dylan Bronn ensured the ex-Nigeria youth international return with nothing.
Add Kalu Uche and Anderson Esiti who kitted for the home team, that’s four Nigerians on parade at Ghelamco Arena.
The victory lifts Gent to sixth on the log with 22 points while Royal, on 19, dropped to 11th.
Next up for Simon and his two Nigerian brothers is a trip to Zulte-Waregem next Sunday.
