The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 9.2km walk tagged “March For Change” was flagged off by the National Leader of the party, Chief Bola Tinubu, at Maryland at 8.00a.m.
It was terminated at 1.05p.m. at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.
Other notable party members at the march were the APC governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, and Director of Strategic Communication for Buhari Campaign Organisation Dele Alake, were also present.
The one-million-man march witnessed several civil society groups in Lagos, representatives of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority and the Bus Rapid Transit, who donned their official attires.
Speaking at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Aregbesola told the crowd: “I know the Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers all know the story of Jonah in the bible that failed to carry out God’s assignment and was thrown into the sea.
“Our own Jonathan, when he was born, God sent him to rescue Nigeria but he refused and that’s why his name changed to “Badluck.””
He urged Nigerians to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan like the crew members in the boat threw Jonah into the water.
“We won’t throw him into the water, we will send him to his home with our votes,” Aregbesola said.
Ambode, the APC governorship candidate in Lagos state, said the party would use the remaining days before elections to fast and pray for victory.
His words: “We will commit the remaining days before the elections to fasting and prayers and ensure that APC gets 100 per cent votes.”
Ambode said APC had proven a point with the walk.
According to him, the party will give prosperity to Nigerians if voted for.
In his address, Tinubu, appealed to Nigerians to vote for the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Tinubu, the immediate past Governor of Lagos State, said the party’s presidential candidate, retired Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, was passionate about transforming the country.
“I thank you all for the walk today. Now, we have marched for that change we are clamouring for; marching for common sense revolution.”
