The Lagos Police Command says it has arrested two members of the robbery gang that allegedly robbed the FESTAC Town, Lagos home of Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, on Saturday.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, confirmed that the suspects have been arrested and handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery (SARS) for further investigation.
“Two of the suspects were arrested by our men from the FESTAC division, who were on patrol at the time of the incident. Two others escaped.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, while investigations are on-going. Efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects,” Oti said.
Mr Ibu was not at home when the robbers struck.
His wife, grandmother, housemaid and children were sleeping when the robbers reportedly gained entry through an opening in the house, which was under renovation.
The robbers were reported to have carted away properties and cash valued at over N14M after they held the Okafor’s hostage as they took time to carry out the operation.
Two of the armed robbers were reportedly picked by the closed circuit camera (CCTV) installed in the building.
