An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, granted N200, 000 bail, each to two job applicants charged with stealing property worth N140, 000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi ordered the accused persons to produce two sureties each in like sum.
Osunsami said the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Benson Emuerhi, said the accused and others now at large, committed the offences at Oworonshoki, Lagos, at 12.30 a.m. on December 23.
He said that the accused and others, broke into the apartment of the complainant, Aigoro Mujidat, to steal.
“The complainant saw the accused, accompanied with his accomplices, coming out of her apartment but when she raised an alarm they ran away.
“They broke into the complainant’s apartment; using a plier, razor blade and other dangerous weapons”.
He said that the stolen items included, one laptop and a Tecno phone, all valued N140, 000 belonging to the complainant.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The case has been adjourned to April 19 for trial.
