Comedian Abovi Ugboma, popularly known as Bovi, has risked the wrath of social media trolls by throwing his weight behind Dorcas Fapson in her faceoff with a Taxify driver she accused of attempted abduction and rape last week.
According to the actress, the driver named Henry Nnaemeka physically assaulted her after a disagreement over payment for a ride.
The driver denies the allegation, claiming instead that he was a victim of the actress’ belligerence.
Attempts by Adekunle God and Simi to defend the actress against public bashing have largely backfired with both forced to delete tweets in her support.
Unbothered by the negative comments his intervention was likely to generate, Bovi added his voice in support of Dorcas in an Instagram post on Monday.
“First off, your biggest crime in all of this was not fitting into the stereotype! You’ve been dragged in many sections for being bold and courageous under fire,” he wrote.
The 38-year-old then condemned the driver for taking the actress to a wrong destination.
He praised the actress for being assertive and pepper spraying her alleged attacker.
“Somewhere, some girl is inspired by your boldness,” he added.
The Man on Fire comedian then added that she should have gotten out of the car quicker than she did.
He also blamed the actress for not looking like a victim in the videos she released after the incident.
“If you had a PR expert by your side the next day, just before you posted those videos explaining what actually transpired, he/she would have worn you a very thick cardigan and wrapped you in a blanket. You would have been asked to speak in a “victim tone”. All this would have been channeled to swing the narrative in your favour,” he wrote.
According to him, she did not milk the situation, neither was she “thinking of the mileage those videos will accumulate”.
