Manchester United forward, Alexis Sanchez, has agreed on a 16-month prison sentence for defrauding the Spanish tax authorities by €1m, say reports.
Sanchez will not serve any of the prison sentences, though, being a first-time offender and due to the punishment being less than 24 months.
The charges relate to the forward’s time at Barcelona in the 2012/13 season where he reportedly did not declare image rights that he was receiving.
The 29-year-old has admitted his guilt on the charges and has fully repaid the sum of money, alongside interest, to ensure his sentence was reduced.
Sanchez must now attempt to avoid any further punishment within the next two years to avoid serving jail time, in a similar instance to many other Spanish-based stars including Lionel Messi.
On the pitch, the Chilean has made a swift transition from Arsenal to United.
In three appearances, he has scored and assisted one apiece for Jose Mourinho’s team.
