An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Friday Apata in prison, for the alleged murder of a 40-year-old man, Sesan Akinrinmade.
Apata, whose address was not provided at the court, pleaded not guilty to a count charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Insp.Olasunkanmi Bamikole told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 30, at Ijadu Village in Ado Ekiti.
He said the deceased went to a scene of a communal clash where he was attacked by the accused because the accused thought that he was an enemy.
The prosecutor said that Akinrinmade died as a result of the attack.
Bamikole said the offence contravened Section 325 of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.
Afeniforo adjourned the case until March 2, pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
