Man, 21, remanded in prison for allegedly robbing man of N155, 000 iPhone, gold wedding ring

A 21-year-old man, Temitayo Akomolafe, who is standing trial for allegedly robbing a man of his iPhone 4x and a gold wedding ring valued at N155,000, was on Tuesday remanded in Ado Ekiti Prisons.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery at an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plea of the accused was not taken and was remanded in prison on the orders of Magistrate Modupe Afeniforo.

Afeniforo directed that the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that the accused committed the offences ‎on Jan. 18 at Abaiyamedi on Ilawe Road in the state capital.

He alleged that the accused attacked the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Adesina with some dangerous weapons before robbing him of his valuables. ‎

“The accused took Adesina’s iPhone 4x phone valued at N80, 000 and wedding gold ring worth N75,000.”

The offences contravened Section 1(2), (a) and (b) of the Armed Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act 2004.‎

The case was adjourned until April 20 for mention.
