President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Lagos on Thursday morning for a two-day official visit.
It is the first of its kind since the 75-year-old was sworn in as a democratically elected President on May 29, 2017.
A planned trip to Lagos in May 2016 was aborted at the last minute, with a terse statement from the presidency saying Buhari had an ear infection.
He was then represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
While in the Centre of Excellence, the President will commission a number of projects and attend the Bola Tinubu Colloquium.

The Lagos State Government had announced Thursday as a work-free day ahead of the visit.
A travel advisory was also issued ahead of the commissioning of the newly built Ikeja Bus Terminal.
The Nigeria Bar Association was on Wednesday warned not to embark on a planned protest against the revised Lagos land use charge during Buhari’s visit.
Many Lagosians whose movement and other activities are affected by the visit have spoken out about their inconvenience.
Below are some of the reactions as captured on Twitter.
Today’s Lagos road closures are totally unnecessary and unfortunate. In the 21st Century, nobody closes down a mega city. President and Governor should simply have used helicopters. No right thinking person will close down New York or London or even Sydney

Booked a 8:45 flight from Abuja to Lagos with the hope of getting out of Abuja before Buhari, checked in at 7:20.
I hear the airspace will be closed until Buhari arrives in Lagos.
madness 🇳🇬

Lagos is already on lockdown just because our President is visiting us today… There should be other convenient ways of doing this…

It’s 6:30am and the island is already on lock down because PMB is coming to Lagos to launch a bus station and the Eko Atlantic. Public holiday declared by the state government. The president is probably still asleep in Abuja.

Lagos DON’T DO IT. Absolutely avoid VI of you can today. Entering via Bonny Camp thru CMS is a no. You are diverted inside Lagos Island. Many side roads close to Eko hotel are closed. Drove around for 20 minutes trying to get to my office @Gidi_Traffic

I really don’t know why Lagos had to shutdown for President Buhari’s visit. He lives here in Abuja and moves around amongst us on a regular basis, and we have never had to shut down the city for one day.

Can’t get to the studio this morning, because someone is in Lagos to open a glorified bus stop. Absolute nonsense.

How can President Buhari choose an EASTER WEEKEND to come to Lagos and cause this untold level of hardship for citizens working for their daily bread? This is totally out of order for an Old Man who should be wise enough to know his performance has been abysmal since 2015.
