Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, on Friday congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari on his presidential election victory.
Obanikoro is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan lost to Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
In a message he posted on Facebook, Obanikoro said “Allow me seize this opportunity to join millions of Nigerians to congratulate the President-Elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the just concluded election.
“I want to also congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for creating the enabling environment for free and fair elections, which has led to the transformation and further entrenchment of democracy in our country.
“I have no doubt that democracy is here to stay in Nigeria. Finally, I congratulate all Nigerians for a peaceful and historical election. God bless us all and God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Obanikoro lost the PDP Lagos State governorship ticket to Jimi Agbaje at a primary election held in December 2014.
The former Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana initially rejected the primary result but as since thrown his weight behind Agbaje in a bid to defeat APC’s Akinwunmi Ambode in the April 11 governorship election.
