Nollywood actress, Lola Alao, has advised Nigerians to ignore any appeal seeking for funds for the burial of fellow actress, Aisha Abimbola, who died in Canada on Tuesday.
She issued the alert in a video posted on Instagram.
Speaking in Yoruba language, Lola said Aisha was a very private person who kept her battle with cancer from the public.
She warned that some people have already started sending messages about raising funds for her burial.
Such messages, Lola said, are a scam because Aisha was a Canadian citizen and the government is taking of the funeral.
“We are not seeking for funds from anyone. Kindly disregard any message asking you to contribute anything towards her burial,” she said.
Qed.ng recalls that a fundraiser was organised to bring the body of another actress, Moji Olaiya, who died in Canada on May 17, 2017 home to Nigeria.
In a condolence message on Aisha’s death, Actors’ Guild of Nigeria’s president, Emeka Rollas, urged his members to take advantage of the life insurance scheme being introduced by the current leadership of the association for the safety of their lives and future.
“It is not possible to totally guide against death but the scheme will serve as a platform to prepare members from being caught unaware by the cold hands of death,” he said.
