Senate President Bukola Saraki put the faceoff between him and the police aside on Tuesday evening to host some Kannywood actors in his Abuja home.
In attendance were Ali Nuhu, Salisu Aliyu, Tijjani Faraga, Maryam Habila and other members of the Hausa language film industry.
Also present was Saraki’s wife, Toyin.
Saraki stated that Nigeria’s domestic film industry is the second largest producer of films in the world.
He added that it was a pleasure to meet and interact with actors, actresses, directors and producers from Kannywood.

The President of the Senate also said: “These men and women have worked very hard to develop our nation’s Hausa language cinema, which is watched by millions. Kannywood practitioners are creating new forms of employment for our young people through entertainment, and we applaud them.”
Saraki is currently engaged in a battle of wits with the Nigeria Police Force which has requested that he answers questions arising from some robbery suspects who claim to have links with him.
