British supermodel, Naomi Campbell, is remembering American fashion photographer, Richard Avedon, with a naked picture of her he took way back in 1994.
The picture was the then 24-year-old’s first British GQ cover in which she appeared alongside fellow supermodels Christy Turlington, Farrah Summerford and Nadj Auermann in an “au naturel” photo shoot representing the four seasons of the year.
It was selected from a series of photographs by Richard Avedon for the 1995 Pirelli calendar.
The now 48-year-old uploaded it to Instagram on Thursday with the caption “In honor of Richard Avedon HAPPY BIRTHDAY R.I.P”
Avedon was born in New York on May 15, 1923.
He died on October 1, 2004 in a San Antonio, Texas hospital of complications from a cerebral haemorrhage.
His fashion, according to an obituary published in The Times of New York, “helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century.”
Naomi was on Monday Bestowed with the Icon Award for 2018 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) at its annual awards ceremony, which took place this year at the Brooklyn Museum.
She was in Nigeria in March for the Arise Fashion Week and met President Muhammadu Buhari during a tour of the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos.
