Following his successful solo photo exhibition in March 2016, multi-disciplinary visual artist, Ayodele Ojo, has come up with fresh visual offerings, which will also be exhibited in Lagos.
The University of Benin graduate and accomplished photojournalist titles his latest paintings “Muse from the Mountains”.
He will be showing 30 paintings executed in different mediums from June 23 to 29, 2018 at the National Museum, Onikan, Lagos.
The exhibition is a marked departure from the last solo photo documentary exhibition with his use of pure bold colours on canvas and different mediums ranging from oil colours, acrylic and watercolour.
His interpretation of the theme for the exhibition shows a deep understanding of emotional imagery interplay as well as colour contrast applications.
He explained that the word “mountain” is expressed to convey meanings ranging from it been a barrier or the peak of excellence.
A 2005 winner of the Peak Golden Pen Award, Ayodele had a brief stint in the advertising industry as a visualizer between 1999 and 2000 before working with Punch newspapers in Lagos from 2000 to 2005 as a senior photographer.
He left for Independent newspapers as photo editor between 2005 and 2006.
He was a corporate affairs officer with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from 2006 rising through the ranks to become an assistant general manager, a position from which he resigned in March 2018.
He has worked with several clients including British Council, Lateral Links, Kayode Anibaba and Associates, Acropolis Ltd.
He has freelanced with the Associated Press, a wire agency.
His painting style is freestyle and contemporary, he also sculpts in his spare time.
His works are displayed at Pees Galeria, Baffles Art Gallery and Signature Art Gallery, Lagos.
