Celebrities are no different from the rest of us (apart from the money, the talent and the painfully good looks).
And when it comes to the dating game they have all got a chequered past too.
Below we look at some Nigerian celebrities whose relationship crashed before they could say “I do”.
Kate Henshaw and Sammie Okposo
Gospel musician, Sammie Okposo, and actress, Kate Henshaw, were romantically involved long before she got married to Roderick Nuttal, but the relationship didn’t work out with Kate stating that she was physically abused.
After their separation, Sammie revealed that the duo didn’t get married because he was not physically and psychologically ready at the time.
Kate went on to marry Englishman, Mr. Nuttal, but the marriage ended in divorce.
Linda Ikeji and Dan Foster
Before Linda Ikeji found fame and fortune as a celebrity blogger, she was in a relationship with American-born radio presenter, Dan Foster. The pair endured a turbulent relationship.
In an interview with Punch, Dan, who is now married, revealed that he took Linda for granted and dated another lady while he was with her.
Wizkid and Tania Omotayo
Wizkid and Tania had an on and off relationship. They started dating in 2011 but were first seen together publicly at the launch of Banky W’s 2013 album, R&BW.
News of their breakup surfaced in 2015 when it was revealed that Wizkid had fathered a child with Binta Diallo which was said to have been the reason for the breakup.
Wizkid released a public statement saying that he and Tania Omotayo were no longer dating.
2face Idibia and Caroline Danjuma
Former Miss Caroline Danjuma and 2face Idiba were involved in a brief romantic relationship. She even played the singer’s love interest in his movie debut, Phat Girls.
The relationship was however short-lived. When Caroline was asked about the relationship, she said, “2face I and are still very much friends, I am happy that he is who he is and I know that he is happy that I am who I am today”.
Bimbo Akintola and Dede Mabiaku
Dede Mabiaku is a protégé of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. He had a romantic affair with Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola.
The relationship began to falter when stories started circulating about the actress smoking and going about pantless. Both remain good friends.
Jim Iyke and Rita Dominic
The filmmakers had a great chemistry on and off screen and were often portrayed as lovers in movies back in the early 2000s. Many believe their relationship would end in marriage.
Jim revealed in a February interview that while Rita was looking at a lasting relationship he was all about having fun.
