The West Africans dropped to 49th and are now tied with Russia who climbed 21 spots.
Nigeria failed to reach the second round at the World Cup.
Gernot Rohr’s men lost to Croatia, defeated Iceland but a miserable defeat to Argentina ended their tournament.
Despite crashing alongside the Eagles, Tunisia and Senegal are Africa’s top-ranked teams tied on 24th.
They are followed by DR Congo, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon and then Nigeria.
France has taken over the top spot from Germany after winning the tournament for the second time, with runners-up Croatia rising 16 spots to fourth.
Germany has plummeted down the rankings following their exit at the group stage.
Belgium, who defeated Brazil to reach the semi-final, also displaced the South Americans to second.
Uruguay complete the top five.
