Two mechanics, Roland Samuel and Tunde Gabriel, on Thursday, appeared in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged theft of generator parts.
The accused — Samuel, 32, and Gabriel, 35 — who reside at Narayi High Cost area of Kaduna, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
But the Prosecutor, Sgt. Musa Zaradeen, told the court that the accused committed the offences when they broke into Trinity Hotel
at Barnawa Junction and stole some generator parts.
He said the complainant, Mr Alex Tony of Barnawa, reported the case at 0Barnawa Police Station, Kaduna, on Aug. 26.
He alleged that the accused removed the generator’s automatic voltage regulator, an AVR automatic voltage regulator and
the kick starter.
“They were caught by the hotel’s security guard with the stolen items,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 117 and 347 of the Kaduna State Penal Code.
In his ruling, Magistrate John Dauda granted the duo bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Dauda said the sureties should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should also submit their driver’s licence or National
Identity Card.
The case was adjourned until September 13 for a mention.
