Tottenham Hotspur attacker, Lucas Moura, has been named the Premier League’s Player of the month for August.
Moura, 26, won the award after scoring three goals in as many matches, including two in Spurs’ 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian claimed the prize ahead of Chelsea full-back, Marcos Alonso; Cardiff City goalkeeper, Neil Etheridge; Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk; Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy, and Watford’s Roberto Pereyra.
Watford manager, Javi Gracia, picked up the Manager of the Month award after his team won all three of their matches in August, and the Hornets followed that up with another victory in September to maintain their 100 per cent start to the campaign.
“I am very pleased,” Gracia, the first Watford boss to win the award since Quique Sanchez Flores did so in December 2015, said after receiving it for the first time. “We are enjoying [it]. You never know what will happen.
“Don’t look only at the end of the road. Try to enjoy day by day. Try to enjoy the very good atmosphere, the workers who are helping us, the supporters in all the games are amazing.
“I think altogether we can achieve very good things.”
Fulham midfielder, Jean Michael Seri, won August’s Goal of the Month award for his strike against Burnley on August 26.
The Ivory Coast international beat Joe Hart with a long-range curling effort in the fourth minute at Craven Cottage to spark his side on to a 4-2 win, their first since winning promotion back to the Premier League.
