The Ekiti State House of Assembly has approved a N10 billion supplementary budget presented by Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Fayose forwarded a supplementary bill titled “2018 Revised Budget” to the assembly on Monday, September 10, though it was backdated to August 30.
Speaker Kola Oluwole recalled lawmakers who had been on recess since July 16 and directed them to start working on the document.
Fourteen Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers passed the budget within an hour of deliberation on Thursday.
Twelve opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers boycotted the session.
Journalists were not allowed to cover the proceeding.
House Minority Leader, Gboyega Aribisogan of the APC, condemned his colleagues for granting what he called “ploy by Fayose to legitimise fraud which will be resisted through legal and constitutional means.”
Fayose is expected to vacate office for Governor-elect Kayode Fayemi on October 16.
