3 abducted Kaduna lecturers regain freedom

After two days, three abducted lecturers of Shehu Idris College of Health, Makarfi, Kaduna State, have regained freedom.

The release was confirmed by the administrator of the school, Yusuf Yakubu.

Yakubu revealed that the kidnapped academics were released to him, but didn’t state whether any ransom was paid.

“Please be informed that the three kidnapped staff of Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology have been released,” he said in a statement on Tuesday night.

According to the Leadership, the victims were kidnapped while travelling to Makarfi from Zaria.

The report explained that among the abducted lecturers are two women, Rabi Dogo and Halimatu Malam, and the director of the institution’s dental school, identified as Dr Akawo.

“We are all not happy at all here. It is indeed a sad event,” Ahmed Rahama, a staff of the institution was quouted as saying.

“The department had some members of the dental association who visited the school but were lodged in a hotel in Zaria.

“We understand they travelled to Zaria where they had a brief meeting with them that Sunday. And on their way back to Makarfi, they were kidnapped.”
