Immediate-past Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has appeared before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos amid tight security.
Mr Fayose is facing charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N2.2bn fraud.
The anti-graft agency conveyed the ex-governor to the in a white bus manned by heavy security Monday morning.
Fayose was brought to court straight from the EFCC custody, where he had been detained since last week when he submitted himself to the anti-graft agency, shortly after the expiration of his immunity from prosecution.
The charges were read to him by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun after which he pleaded not guilty.
Fayose’ lawyer is former Attorney General of the Federation, Kanu Agabi (SAN).
