Fresh off the back of winning the Benson & Hedges “Grab Da Mic” competition in 2001, P-Square had their first press conference at the office of The Quadrant Company then located on Isaac John Street, GRA, Ikeja in Lagos.
That was shortly before the release of their debut album, Last Nite, under Timbuk2 music label. With Howie T as manager, Peter and Paul Okoye told the media that day to watch out for big things from them. The brothers’ message was that they were not going anywhere soon.
They have gone on to release a total of six studio albums after that media chat. True to their words, P-Square have sung and danced their way to award after award at home and abroad.
The MAMA Artiste of the Decade award on Saturday is the latest addition to a cap full of many feathers. And it is a testimony to how far the twins have travelled since that day in Ikeja.
