The Police on Friday in Abuja, arraigned a 30-year-old businessman, Praise Alex, at a Kubwa Grade1 Area Court over alleged theft.
The defendant of Kagini, Abuja, is facing a one-count charge of theft.
The Prosecutor, Mr Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Obuilu Chukwuemeka reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Nov.13.
He said that the defendant fraudulently transferred N55, 000 from the complainant’s Guaranty Trust Bank account to one Graysbah Resource Nig. Ltd without his consent.
Olanipekun said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use, adding that the offence contravened section 287 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Abdulwahab Mohammed, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one reliable surety residing within the court’s jurisdiction.
Mohammed adjourned the matter until Jan. 23 for hearing.
