2019: Buhari, Atiku, Ezekwesili, others to sign peace accord

President Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and other presidential candidates are to sign a peace accord to ensure smooth conduct of 2019 elections.

The signing will take place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Tuesday at 3.00p.m, according to NAN.

Oby Ezekwesili of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Donald Duke of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Omoyele Sowore of African Action Congress (AAC) are also expected at the event.

The event is being organised by the National Peace Committee headed by former military head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Peace Accord is an undertaking by all presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancor-free campaigns before, during and after the elections.

The candidates are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.

The leadership of the political parties involved as well as chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) are also expected at the event.

Other candidates expected there are Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Obadiah Mailafia of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kingsley Moghalu of Young Progressive Party (YPP).

Chris Okotie of Fresh Democratic Party (FDP), Hamza Al-Mustapha of Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), Habib Gajo of Young Democratic Party (YDP), John Gbor of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Ali Soyode of YES Party and Davidson Akhimien of Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN) are also expected to sign the Peace Accord.
