After almost two years in office, US President Donald Trump has come up with his strategy for Africa.
The strategy will be unveiled on Thursday.
Senate President Bukola Saraki will attend the event according to a statement by his media aide Yusuph Olaniyonu.
The new US strategy argues for more effective utilisation of existing U.S. resources on the continent, the statement read.
Early in his administration, Mr Trump was reported to have referred to Haiti and African nations as “shithole countries” during a meeting with a bipartisan group of senators at the White House.
The Trump plan, according to US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs Tibor P. Nagy will focus on bringing more foreign direct investment into Africa.
The plan is also in line with the Legislative Agenda of the 8th National Assembly aimed at reforming the Nigerian economy through strategic legislation that will help promote increased participation of private sector actors.
Mr Saraki will be accompanied by the vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs Ben Murray-Bruce, and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Monsurat Sunmonu.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs Nnenna Ukeje is also part of the team.
