Mohammed Adamu was on Tuesday confirmed as the new Inspector General of Police.
His appointment was confirmed after he met with former police boss, Ibrahim Idris, and President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Here are 10 things you should about the new IGP
1. Mr Adamu was born on September 17, 1961 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
2. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
3. He enlisted in the Force on February 1, 1986 as Cadet Assistant Inspector.
4. Before his appointment, he was an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Directing Staff, National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos, Plateau State.
5. He was also the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti and Enugu States and also Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 5 Police Command Headquarters, Benin, Edo State.
6. Adamu was elected as INTERPOL’s Vice President responsible for Africa at its meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam between 2012-2014.
7. He has attended numerous seminars and conferences within and outside the country on policing.
8. The new police boss speaks French fluently.
9. Among his interests are socialising, squash and badminton.
10. He is married with children.
