An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has sentenced a 20-year-old, Emen George, to one month imprisonment for playing Bet9ja game of N50,000 without any means of payment.
The Magistrate, E. Kubeinje, found him guilty of one count charge of causing breach of peace.
“The accused is hereby sentenced to one month imprisonment or a fine of N10, 000,’’ she said.
The Prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, had informed the court that Mr Emen committed the offence on January 28 on Barbinton Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos.
According to him, Emen went into a Bet9ja shop at the aforementioned address and played a game of N50,000 without paying. After being searched, it was discovered that he had no money on him.
The offence contravened Section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
