A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, has ordered that one Nicholas Onih be given 15 strokes of cane for causing bodily hurt.
The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, on Thursday, gave the order after Mr Onih’s guilty plea.
Mr Maiwada, however, gave the Jabi Garage resident an option of N 2,000 as fine.
The prosecutor, Ijeoma Ukagha, had told the court that one Jeremiah Isaac of Mpape, Abuja, had reported the matter at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, on February 4.
The prosecutor added that Onih had restricted access to the complainant’s shop at Jabi garage on January 1.
“When the complainant confronted Onih, he tried to start a fight, but they were separated by people around.
“Onih later came with a broken bottle and stabbed the complainant on the mouth and hand.
“The complainant was later rushed to the hospital for treatment,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Sections 246 of the Penal Code.
