Fayemi intervenes as Ekiti community locks monarch out of palace

Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi

Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi, has intervened in the crisis rocking Odo Ora-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government Area where the monarch had been locked out of his palace.

The state’s deputy governor, Bisi Egbeyemi, who attended a peace meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, condemned the violence that rocked the community.

Some indigenes have been unhappy with the emergence of Samuel Adeyemo as the Obalemo of Odo Ora. They claim that the process that brought him in was flawed.

Egbeyemi asked the aggrieved indigenes to seek redress in court.

He added that the government would not fold its arms and allow the situation to degenerate into anarchy.

“Security report revealed that there is likely to be outbreak of violence in Odo Ora. I don’t want anybody to disturb or attack Kabiyesi.

“If there is outbreak of violence, all culprits will be arrested and prosecuted. Let there be peace in your community,” he said.

Oba Adeyemo had informed the deputy governor that he had been locked out of the palace by suspected hoodlums who also tied palm fronds at the palace gate to prevent him from occupying the building.
