A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has dismissed a suit seeking to disqualify the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Enugu East senatorial district, Chimaroke Nnamani, from contesting the National Assembly election.
Justice Buba Mohammed gave his judgement in favour of the former governor of Enugu State on Thursday.
Chukwunonso Ogbe had filed a suit against Chimaroke, PDP and others, and prayed the court to declare Chimaroke’s candidacy invalid for purportedly not presenting himself before the commissioner for oaths to sign his senatorial nomination form.
Justice Buba ruled that the case lacked substance and awarded N250,000 in favour of the first and second defendants.
