Senator Shehu Sani has mocked Nigeria over the deportation of her citizens from Ghana which was announced on Tuesday by Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Michael Abikoye.
Abikoye, in a meeting with the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Kwame Takyi, protested the inhuman treatment of 723 Nigerians who were deported between 2018 and 2019.
“There are several Ghanaians living in Nigeria and the Nigeria Immigration Service has never deported any of them on the grounds of illegal stay because of the brotherliness between our countries,” Abikoye told the GIS Comptroller-General.
Sani, riding on that note, decried the deportations sarcastically in a tweet on Wednesday which was later deleted.
“We witnessed when Nigeria expelled Ghanaians in the 80s and now its the turn of Ghana expelling Nigerians; Near four decades circle,” Sani wrote.
