Singer, Danny Young, has sued female colleague, Tiwa Savage, to the tune of N200 million for copyright theft over her song ‘One.’
The young man alleges that her song contains uncleared samples of his 2009 single, ‘Oju ti Tiwon.’
Danny Young announced this development via Instagram on Sunday.
Sharing court documents to the effect, he wrote “Tiwa! I know pple love u! Even me🤗 … BUT I still have to sue u bcos u stole my shit!😖😆😘 a simple dialogue would av solved this but u prefer it this way.
“Now we will be in court discussing some 200,000,000 Damages 🤣🤣🤣 ps. Unblock me so I can like your pictures 👀.”
Danny Young accused Tiwa Savage of copyright abuse in November 2018 and threatened to take the matter to court.
The video for ‘One,’ directed by Clarence Peters, was taken down from YouTube barely a month after its release in December 2018.
Qed.ng reported that YouTube has restored the video for ‘One,’ after what it calls unfounded copyright claims.
