Fuji musician, Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, has joined several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) in defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
They were received at an elaborate ceremony at the APC secretariat in Ikeja on Tuesday.
Obesere led members of his Consolidation group in PDP in joining the APC.
Lagos APC chairman, Tunde Balogun, represented by the party’s secretary, Wale Ahmed, received the defectors.
Mr Balogun said he was pleased to have them join the party. He further told them to feel at home in the party.
“The election, for us, is no contest. We are definitely going to win because Lagosians have confidence in our party.
“Our governorship candidate, Mr Jide Sanwoolu, is a seasoned administrator who is vastly experienced in governance, having served as commissioner at various times in different ministries.
“He understands development and you can be sure that Lagos will witness more strides when he is elected,” Balogun said.
Obesere said he waited for the right time to join the ruling party, promising to contribute his quota towards more success for the party.
