Comedian and actor, Okey Bakassi, has reacted positively to the victory of Emeka Ihedioha in the Imo State governorship election held on Saturday.
A former speaker of the House of Reps, Ihedioha polled 273,404 votes to beat his closest rival and son-in-law of incumbent Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, who got 190,364.
Echoing the sentiments of many Imolites, the 49-year-old entertainer described Ihedioha’s victory as liberation.
“Imo State has been liberated. To God be the Glory,” who served as a special assistant to former Governor Ikedi Ohakim wrote on Instagram.
Other participants in the 70-man Imo gubernatorial contest include Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a former senator who had 114,676 votes, winning in four LGAs.
All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, representing Imo West Senatorial district garnered 96,458 votes and won in two LGAs to take the fourth position.
Former Governor Ohakim who left the PDP for the Accord Party polled 6,846 votes but did not win in any of the council areas.
A total of 739,474 votes were cast with 25,130 rejected while 714,344 were valid.
