Nigeria winger Victor Moses has signed a new four-year contract with Premier League champions Chelsea and immediately joins rivals West Ham on loan for the rest of 2015/16 season.
The move across London will be his third loan spell in the last three seasons following on from an unsuccessful stint at Liverpool and a far more productive spell with Stoke City.
“West Ham United are delighted to announce that Chelsea winger Victor Moses has signed for the Club on a season-long loan,” the Hammers confirmed in an official statement on its twitter handle.
West Ham have been extremely active in the transfer market as the clock ticks down to the deadline, re-signing former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song on another loan from Barcelona and also announcing the arrival of striker Nikica Jelavic from Hull City.
Michail Antonio of Nottingham Forest is also expected to join, while Sky Sports suggest that Slaven Bilic could be preparing a late swoop for Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor.
As for Moses, his decision to follow the likes of fellow loanee Nathan Ake and pen new terms at Chelsea will be seen as a curious one given that he is unlikely to feature prominently in Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans anytime soon.
Aside from his substitute appearance in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal last month, he has not made a competitive appearance for his parent club since May 2013.
The Nigerian is potentially set to make his debut when West Ham host Newcastle after the international break.
Moses, 24, joined Chelsea from Wigan three summers ago for £9 Million and has made 44 appearances for the Blues in all competitions.
