Lagos State Governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep shock on the demise of Pa Hassan Fasinro, who died on Sunday evening aged 99.
Mr Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Monday morning, described Fasinro’s passage as a great loss to Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general.
Fasinro, a Senator in the Second Republic and first Clerk of Lagos City Council, died at about 8:29 p.m. on Sunday after a brief illness.
He would have clocked 100 years by September.
The governor-elect said Fasinro contributed immeasurably to the growth and development of Lagos.
“’Lagos has lost a man with a repository of knowledge of ancient and modern Nigeria, a man we know as an encyclopedia of Lagos and Nigeria’s developmental trajectory. He served Lagos diligently and the country. Pa Fasinro during his lifetime was an accomplished man,” Sanwo-Olu said.
While commiserating with the deceased’s family, the governor-elect urged them to continue in the legacy of the late politician, adding that the best form of memorial is to preserve the great feat achieved by late Fasinro during his lifetime.
“On behalf of my family, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of late Pa Hassan Fasinro. The family and the rest of us should be inspired with his life of service and commitment to the overall well-being of Lagosians and Nigerians as a whole,” Sanwo-Olu said.
