High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Bwari, Abuja, has nullified the candidature of Ademola Adeleke who contested the 2018 governorship election in Osun State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Two chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC), Wahab Raheem and Adam Habeeb, had filed the suit seeking Adeleke’s disqualification on the basis of non-possession of secondary school certificate (SSCE).
Justice Othman Musa on Tuesday ruled that the plaintiffs were able to prove that Adeleke did not possess the minimum qualification of secondary school education as stipulated under section 177 of the 1999 Constitution.
Court findings showed that Adeleke was admitted into Ede Muslim High School, Ede, Osun State in 1976.
It, however, could not find his record in the graduands list of 1980.
The judge also held that the results Adeleke attached to his form CF001 which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was fake.
Musa added that the one presented to the court by the Principal of Ede Muslim High School, appeared different compared with that which Adeleke brought to the court.
Adeleke’s lawyer, Nathaniel Oke, faulted the judgment and vowed to appeal in a higher court.
The state governorship election petition tribunal had declared Adeleke as winner of the September 2018 election in the state.
