Popular Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, has described the reaction of Pastor Chris Okotie to the allegation of being behind his marital woes as an admission of culpability.
Ike had, in a statement on Wednesday, accused the head pastor of Household of God Church of acts aimed at destroying his home.
The feud between the actor and his wife, Suzanne, had degenerated almost beyond resolution, with the wife filing a divorce suit before a Customary Court in Lagos.
Specifically, Suzanne is seeking dissolution of her 12-year-old marriage over alleged assault by her husband.
Okotie, while reacting to the allegation through his media aide, had stated that he would not “dignify Emeka Ike with any response.”
Reacting, the actor said by coming out to say such, Pastor Okotie had indeed confirmed the veracity of his allegation.
“I think his (Okotie’s) comment is a clear indication that he has nothing to say to fault my allegation against him.
“Is Pastor Okotie well known and popular as I am? How can he say he will not dignify me with a response? His comment is actually a confirmation of my suspicion that my wife is being manipulated either through blackmail or spiritual enchantment to say she was opting out of her marriage after 12 years.
“For instance, at the last proceeding on the divorce suit, my wife said it in the open court that she was willing to abandon her four children and go out of the marriage. Which woman will say she was abandoning her four children if not acting under a spell? Emeka Ike said.
He urged his fans all over the world to stay calm, stating that “just as God gave us victory over the people that illegally hijacked the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), our God is still on the thrown and He will equally give us victory over this issue.”
The actor had accused Okotie of hiring a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for his wife for the purpose of destroying his home.
He alleged that Okotie gave his wife about N500,000 for her mother’s burial and also bought her a BlackBerry phone.
Emeke Ike further said every Sunday, Okotie would call his wife out in church with other single women and ask that gifts be given to them.
He further alleged that Okotie along with another member of the church helped his wife secure a job without his consent.
The man in question, Emeka Ike alleged, recently had issues in his marriage over a love message which Suzanne sent to him.
Meanwhile, the actor has made available a copy of the statement by his wife stating the things she liked and hated about him (see below).
Missing among the things she hated is wife battery.
The actor is claiming that if he used to beat his wife as it is being claimed, there was no way his wife would have left it out of the list.
He is therefore arguing that the wife battery allegation is a mere subterfuge to justify the divorce and to ruin his name and integrity which he laboured hard to build.
It is however interesting to note that Suzanne had more things she hated about her husband than the things she loved.
