The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a dismissed Federal High Court judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia.
Justice Hakeem Oshodi of Ikeja High Court had on Tuesday struck out 30 count charge suit by EFCC against Ofili-Ajumogobia.
No less than 10 EFCC officials surrounded Ofili-Ajumogobia as she attempted to leave the courtroom at about 10:24 a.m. after the ruling.
She fled back into the court to seek help from the judge only to be arrested at 11:47 a.m. by EFCC officials who whisked her away in a white Hilux van.
Ajumogibia is being accused of corruption and abuse of office.
The court struck out the charge against Ofili-Ajumogobia and a senior lawyer, Godwin Obla, on grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit.
The judge ruled that EFCC had “jumped the gun” in filing the first amended charge, adding that the agency had not followed the procedures set by National Judicial Council (NJC) in disciplining erring judicial officers.
