It took the combined efforts of officials of the Federal Road Management Agency (FERMA), RRS and an electricity company to stop the fire from expanding.
Fortunately, the Easter holidays which made the busy bridge relatively deserted on Monday helped ease the jobs of the officials.
The fire was quickly put out and the electrical error rectified.
