Bashir Ahmad, media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, has again disputed rumours that the president’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari, had been sacked.
A fake letter purportedly from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, dated March 31 has been spreading on social media alleging Kyari’s sack.
The fake letter also said three-time minister, Babagana Kingibe, had been appointed as his replacement.
However, Mr Ahmad said in a tweet on Wednesday that the news was false and urged the public to disregard it.
“AGAIN, President Muhammadu Buhari DID NOT sack Mallam Abba Kyari as his Chief of Staff,” he wrote.
“The news going round especially on WhatsApp is totally not true. A usual #FakeNews, disregard it please!”
Kyari is currently receiving treatment after testing positive for the coronavirus.
