Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari has uploaded pictures of himself and club owner Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, from another funeral on social media.
The leader of the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team shared the pictures on Instagram and Facebook on Saturday night following his presence at Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial in Oba, Anambra State on Friday.
Politicians, businessmen men and celebrities were at the burial where bales of money were openly flaunted and women brought in from several parts of the country.
Some of the persons who saw pictures of Kyari at the burial expressed shock, alleging that he was associating with criminal elements amid rising insecurity in the country.
Reacting in a post early on Saturday morning, Kyari said he attended the funeral because of his relationship with Obi Cubana, whom he described as hardworking.
The post read: “Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana is one of the most hardworking entrepreneurs and humble personalities that I have known for many years. He is a brother and good friend.
“For his good nature and good heart, today I had to squeeze out time from my busy schedule to honor him, by attending the burial of his beloved mom In Oba town Anambra State.
“May God Almighty give the family the fortitude to bear the great loss. Amen.”
Not done, the man referred to as super cop by his admirers, shared another post on Saturday evening with pictures of him and Obi Cubana taken at a funeral in 2020.
“Last year with my good friend and brother Obi Cubana during the burial of our friend Hon Collins Ezenwa Ilo’s father In Imo State,” he captioned the post.
