Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff of President Muhammadu Buhari, has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Mr Kyari, it was learnt, was tested on Saturday after returning from an official trip to Germany.
Kyari and the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, were together at the meeting with Siemens officials to discuss issues relating to the Nigerian power sector.
The chief of staff was not showing any symptoms of the virus at the time he took the test.
His result came back positive on Monday. He has now gone into self-isolation.
It was also learnt that President Buhari was tested for the virus. His result came out negative.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday night, reported a case of the virus in Abuja.
It was unclear if it was that of Kyari as the Presidency and health authorities have not spoken on the issue.
