Abba Yusuf sacks SSG, chief of staff, five commissioners

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has rejigged his cabinet, removing key appointees in the process.

His spokesperson Sanusi Tofa said in a statement on Thursday that the development forms part of a major political decision to effect pragmatic political realignment of his administration.

Those affected by the major shakeup are the governor’s chief of staff Shehu Sagagi whose office is now scrapped, and secretary to the state government Abdullahi Bichi who was dropped on health ground.

According to Bature, Yusuf removed some cabinet members and reassigned others to enhance administrative performance and political retool.

Those who retained their positions are the attorney general who doubles as commissioner for justice Haruna Dederi; commissioner for agriculture, Danjuma Mahmoud, commissioner for health Dr. Abubakar Labaran; commissioner for land and physical planning Abduljabbar Umar; commissioner for budget and planning Musa Shannon and commissioner for works and housing Marwan Ahmad.

Also retained are commissioner for solid and mineral resources Sefiyanu Hamza; commissioner for religious affairs Shiekh Ahmad Auwal; commissioner for youth and sports Mustapha Kwankwaso; commissioner for investment and commerce Adamu Kibiya and that of internal security and special services Major General Mohammad Idris (retd).

According to the statement, those reassigned are Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulssalam who was moved from Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education; Mohammad Usman moved from Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Yusuf Mata from Ministry of Higher Education to Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Others on reassignment list include Amina Abdullahi from Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to Ministry for Women, Children and Disable; Nasiru Garo from Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to Ministry of Special Duties.

Commissioner for Project Monitory and Evaluation Ibrahim Namadi was moved to Ministry of Transport, while Umar Doguwa of Ministry of Education was moved to Ministry of Water Resources.

On the reassigned list are Ali Makoda moved from Water Resources to Ministry of Education, Aisha Saji was moved from Ministry of Women, Children and Disable to Tourism and Culture, and Muhammad Diggol from Ministry of Transportation to Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

The five members of cabinet dropped include Ibrahim Fagge of Finance Ministry; Ladidi Garko of Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Baba Dantiye of Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, Shehu Yammedi of Special Duties and Abbas Abbas of Ministry of Rural and Community Development.

Yusuf directed the chief of staff and the five commissioners to report to his office for possible reassignment.
