The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aliyu Datti, winner of the Saturday rerun election of Kiru/ Bebeji federal constituency of Kano State.
Datti defeated his closest rival, Abdulmumin Jibrin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by polling 48,601 votes to Jibrin’s 13,507.
Jibrin is a former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation.
He was also the Director-General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation.
The Court of Appeal in Kaduna had last November nullified the Jibrin’s election, and ordered fresh elections in the constituency.
Justice Adejoje Adepoju ruled that the sack was necessitated by the nullification of elections in two local government areas of Kiru/Bebeji constituency.
