Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has unveiled a library he intends to build in honour of his late father Ishmael Ikpeazu.
Mr Ikpeazu unveiled the plan on Sunday at Enitona Hotel, Aba.
The library will be named Ishmael Ikpeazu Memorial Library.
The governor also presented his book Thoughts of a Scholar in Governance: A Compilation of the Speeches, Lectures & Broadcast of the Governor of Abia State, May 29, 2015 – May 28, 2019.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma who was part of guests at the ceremony commended his Abia counterpart for “choosing to immortalize his late father in such a special and enduring way”.
Mr Uzodimma also wrote on Twitter: “It is my belief that the project is a way of bequeathing a lasting legacy to Abia children which I know, will serve as an avenue to redirect the younger generation and assist them excel academically by no least a person than Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who’s also the first son of the man whose name is being immortalized with the proposed library.”
