Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has clashed with a journalist at Television Continental (TVC), OlaJumoke Alawode-James.
Mrs Alawode-James co-anchors a show on TVC, Your View.
The journalist had criticised President Muhammadu Buhari over the respect given him by British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua.
“Very true. All of us should rever our leaders. Elected or selected. So, if Anthony is in awe of his President (as should be in a sane society); is his President also ignorant of how he became who he is? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Where is our NATIONAL SHAME?” the journalist said on Monday in reply to a blogger, Noble Igwe, who knocked Joshua’s critics.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa replied the journalist: “Sis Jumoke. Long time 😀! Your dislike for anything @MBuhari is legendary. All are entitled to criticism, but yours is definitely more than meets the eye. I hope you will have the courage to contest elections and put into practice all you preach. Talk is cheap my sister.”
Alawode-James then responded: “Happy 😃 new year Aunty Abike. Long time! Hope the family is doing great? I am a JOURNALIST; not a Politician! If I don’t call out ABSURDITY for what it is, who will do the job of the FOURTH REALM? Have a successful 2020 ma! Pray you advise the President right this year.”
Dabiri-Erewa replied again on Tuesday: “Journalist ke?😂😂😂. Apart from TVC that gave you exposure and great opportunity you frittered away, I’m sure you’ve not had any significant journalism exposure. But there is always room for training. Be bold. 💪Contest elections. We need more women.”
The clash between the duo has generated a lot of debates on Twitter.
