Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa has opened a new account on X nearly one year after her page was hacked.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa informed QEDNG on Thursday of her new account, stating that it was not easy letting go of her previous page where she had 1 million followers.
The account has been in the control of hackers since June 2023.
Announcing her return to X, she posted a video which she captioned, “Guess who’s back on Twitter? After a long hiatus, I’m thrilled to reconnect!”
In the video, she said, “After my account was hacked I did my very best to get it back. It’s not easy to lose a million followers but that’s life anyway. I’m back on X. I look forward to meaningful engagements on the X platform. Nice to be back.”
In March, Dabiri-Erewa lamented the delay in recovering her hacked account.
The former member of the House of Representatives shared a screenshot of the account on Instagram, noting that she was still waiting for the chief executive of X Elon Musk to recover the account.
As of press time, Dabiri-Erewa’s new account had over 300 followers.
